The K-TRACS Dispenser Guide contains the most up-to-date information about reporting requirements in Kansas.

The following are the most recent updates to the guide. Dispensers should review the guide with their vendors to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.

Effective August 1, 2024

  • If a pharmacy is engaged in the practice of partially filling a medication, it must be reported to K-TRACS accurately using the partial fill indicator, quantity prescribed and quantity dispensed fields.
  • Pharmacies are encouraged to report accurate phone numbers for prescribers and pharmacies to promote greater patient care coordination.
  • Records older than 2 years are no longer accepted as new records. Contact K-TRACS to request an exception.

Effective November 1, 2023

  • K-TRACS requires data submissions using ASAP 4.2B
  • Sold date is required for all prescriptions. The sold date should reflect the date the prescription left the pharmacy — with the patient, with a delivery courier or by mail.
  • Species code must be reported on all prescriptions. If the species is indicated as an animal, then the animal name is also required.
